In case you’re one of the readers that follow my blog through my actual webpage evozeta.com you have certainly noticed that I’ve introduced a new theme to my blog. (Für Deutsch hier klicken) It wasn’t the easiest decision for me to make, especially because it meant I had to go over all the widgets and little knick-knacks and put them back into place as I had and liked before. I really liked my old theme for I felt it represented me and my personality quite well with the color scheme and the layout and all. So why change?
Because I’m more about the words than the photos the first and foremost reason for a change of theme was the readability. Though I was presented with a few variations in the old Sunspot theme to make the writing black on almost-white rather than white on almost-black, the color schemes I was offered for free simply didn’t correspond with my taste. In order to change it I would have had to buy an upgrade which I wasn’t willing to do (yet?). I don’t have a commercial blog so I feel that the work I put into it should suffice, I don’t want to spend a whole lot of money on it. All it has to do is keeping my folks in Switzerland informed on what I’m up to and sharing my thoughts with some like-minded spirits out there in the blog sphere.
So here we are now, with the new, so-called “Twenty Fourteen” theme and I have to say it starts to grow on me. It’s neat, it looks organized and things like buttons and the menu are pretty much where you expect them to be. Plus the color schemes it comes with by default are exactly my taste: Mostly greens and blues 🙂
Now as far as I see I’ve updated the page to the point where it was before the transition but I might have missed a thing or two. Please let me know if you’re frantically looking for something that seems to have disappeared all of a sudden. I would also be interested in your opinion on the new theme I’m using. Does this work for you? Do you like the now black on white writing better than the white on dark version? Is it clearer and neater, maybe less cluttered or quite the opposite?
Any response is welcome (well, you know, as long as it’s polite and factual) and I’m eager to hear/read your slant.

Ein neues Layout für ein neues Jahr
Falls du zu denen gehörst, die meinem Blog über die eigentliche Website evozeta.com folgen, dann hast du bestimmt bemerkt, dass ich meinem Blog einen neuen Look verpasst habe. Es war nicht die einfachste Entscheidung für mich, besonders weil es bedeutete, dass ich die ganzen Widgets, Links und all den anderen Krimskrams wieder so platzieren musste, wie ich es im vorherigen Layout gehabt und gemocht hatte. Das alte Layout war mir inzwischen ziemlich ans Herz gewachsen, spiegelte es doch mit seiner Farbpalette und Anordnung meine Persönlichkeit ziemlich gut wider. Warum also alles ändern?
Da ich mehr mit Worten als mit Fotos arbeite, spielte die gute Lesbarkeit meines Blogs bei dieser Entscheidung die Hauptrolle. Auch wenn ich im alten Sunspot Layout einige Varianten zur Verfügung hatte um die Schrift fast-schwarz-auf-weiss anstatt fast-weiss-auf-schwarz darzustellen, so konnte ich doch keine Kombination finden, die meinem Geschmack entsprach. Um es meinen Wünschen entsprechend anzupassen, hätte ich einen Upgrade kaufen müssen, was ich (zumindest noch) nicht tun wollte. Ich führe keinen kommerziellen Blog und so finde ich, die Arbeit die ich hineinstecke, sollte genug sein, ich möchte nicht Unmengen von Geld dafür ausgeben. Alles was der Blog erreichen soll, ist meine Leute in der Schweiz auf dem Laufenden zu halten was ich so aushecke und meine Gedanken mit einigen Gleichgesinnten in der Blog-Sphäre da draussen teilen zu können.
Nun sind wir also hier, mit dem neuen sogenannten „Zwanzig Vierzehn“ Layout und ich muss gestehen, dass ich mich langsam aber sicher damit anfreunde. Es ist gepflegt, sieht ordentlich aus und Dinge wie Knöpfe und das Menü sind ziemlich genau da, wo man sie erwarten würde. Und die Farbpalette die es standardmässig mit sich bringt, entspricht genau meinem Geschmack: Mehrheitlich blau und grün 🙂
Soweit ich sehe, habe ich die Seite wieder so instand gestellt, wie sie vor dem Wechsel war, kann aber gut sein, dass ich ein, zwei Dinge übersehen habe. Lasst mich bitte wissen, falls ihr verzweifelt nach etwas sucht, das urplötzlich verschwunden zu sein scheint. Ausserdem würde mich auch eure Meinung zum neuen Layout interessieren. Passt das für euch? Mögt ihr den Text schwarz-auf-weiss besser als die weiss-auf-dunkel Version? Ist die Darstellung klarer und ordentlicher, möglicherweise weniger überladen oder doch eher das Gegenteil?
Jede Antwort ist willkommen (nun, ihr wisst schon, solange sie anständig und sachlich ist) und ich bin gespannt darauf, eure Meinung zu hören/lesen.

I DO like the new theme better. Blues and greens are my favorite color schemes. But I would read it in any case :). Happy new year to you!

I’m very glad you like it – greens and blues are my favorites too! I just think it looks a bit cleaner, neater somehow.
Well, I hope I can keep up with the blog in 2015 once I start working but I guess if I’m as passionate about it as I was up to now that shouldn’t be a problem. Though I might have to reduce my writing to once a week or so.
