By the time I’ll be done with this, my mum’s Mother’s Day will be over. Because she’s living on the other side of the Atlantic. Sorry mum, I’m late – as usual. Pretty sure I didn’t inherit that from you. Or anyone in the family, for that matter.
I am certain you had a probably exhausting but very delightful Mother’s Day. Today you traveled to our beloved island of Gran Canaria to spend two weeks with two splendid persons. I’m there with you in my thoughts and I cherish the thought of you three being together, baking in the sun, sucking in the fresh sea breeze and enjoying life. That’s how it should be.
I am well aware that I wasn’t always the easiest daughter to have and it was hard for you to let me go. But know that I’m happy. I hope that in turn makes you happy.

Wenn ich hiermit fertig bin, wird der Muttertag meiner Mam bereits vorbei sein. Weil sie auf der anderen Seite des Atlantiks wohnt. Tut mir leid, Mam, ich bin spät – wie üblich. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, das habe ich nicht von dir geerbt. Oder was das betrifft, irgend jemandem in der Familie.
Ich bin mir sicher, du hattest einen zwar anstrengenden aber sicher wunderbaren Muttertag. Heute bist du auf unsere geliebte Insel Gran Canaria gereist, um zwei Wochen mit zwei prächtigen Personen zu verbringen. In Gedanken bin ich bei euch und ich schätze den Gedanken von euch dreien zusammen, in der Sonne badend, die frische Seeluft einatmend und ganz einfach das Leben geniessend. So soll es sein.
Es ist mir durchaus bewusst, dass ich nicht immer die einfachste Tochter war, die man haben kann und es war sicher hart für dich, mich gehen zu lassen. Aber ich versichere dir, dass ich glücklich bin. Und ich hoffe das macht dich im Gegenzug glücklich.
