Theater

Today we went to the senior citizens’ theater. My auntie and uncle are still actively supporting the performances (my aunt with makeup, my uncle staffing the bar) while my mom stopped working with them (she was the master makeup artist before she left :-)) because of the commute that was getting too tedious for all the rehearsals and two weeks of performances.

The play was a hoot as usual and the actors put all their passion into their play. What an inspiring performance.

Backwards

Sometimes I’m a little turned around. I reckon it happens to everyone. But once in a img_5773while I take it overboard… like the other day when I walked around half the village only realizing when I got back home that I had put on my sweatpants backwards!! How did that happen??!? I honestly have no idea. All I know that I put them on backwards again last night but at least noticed right away.

Ah well, what can I say? I’m just a real Johnny Head-in-the-Air… does anyone know the female version of this expression? Is it simply “Jane Head-in-the-Air” or does it not exist at all?

Take care and make sure your clothing sits right 😉

Kitchen Accident

Sometimes things go wrong. And they make a huge mess out of everything. Last night I had one of these moments when an olive oil bottle decided to slip outta my hand. And left olive oil stains all over the kitchen floor tiles, cupboards and oven front.

Being in the middle of cooking and as hungry as a bear after hibernation didn’t exactly help the situation.

But alas, I got the mess cleaned up and used the rage to complete a kickass benchmark run – successfully channeling energy. And to end the day my cats eased my strained nerves with lots of cuddles and a load of loud purring 🙂

Q: How do you channel your rage?

Hope you’re having an accident-free day no matter where you are or what you’re doing!

Learnings of the Day

LEHREN DES TAGES

As I always say: Any day I learn something is a good day. And with this view my Tuesday already got off to a great start – early in the morning I re-learned two terms (yes, as a lady who is coming of age… uhm… for the second time… I’m allowed to be happy about re-learning stuff : -)):

Ich sage ja immer, ein Tag an dem ich etwas gelernt habe, ist ein guter Tag. Und mit dieser Sicht ist mein heutiger Dienstag schon super gestartet – gleich frühmorgens habe ich zwei Begriffe wieder-gelernt (ja, als langsam ins Alter kommende Dame darf ich mich auch über wieder-gelerntes freuen :-)).

Initialling: This is an activity I am often confronted with in my job. But the term in German is constantly eluding me. Now it has finally sunk in again – pure bliss!

Paraphieren: Eine Tätigkeit, mit der ich in meinem Job sehr oft konfrontiert bin. Doch ständig entfällt mir der Begriff. Jetzt endlich hat er mich wiedergefunden – Freude herrscht!

Gordian knot: All I remembered was that Alexander the Great had something to do with it. But the meaning had slipped my mind, though I was able to put it together again on the basis of the context. A little like the Egg of Columbus.

And thus another good day in the bag. That’s how it works.

Und somit ein weiterer guter Tag im Sack. So geht das.

Have you’ll (re-)learned any words lately?

Habt ihr in letzter Zeit Wörter (wieder-)gelernt?

Stay eager to learn and teach, my dear ones!

Bleibt lern- und lehrfreudig, meine Lieben!
